Coal India Falls Most in Five Months on Penalties for Shortfall in Supply

Coal India Ltd (coal), facing a decline in production, fell the most in almost five months after the government ordered it to increase sales to power utilities, and said that it will face penalties for not meet its obligations.

The world's largest manufacturer of goods decreased by 5.9 per cent as high as 319.95 rupees, which is the biggest intraday loss since Sept. 30 and traded at 321.60 rupees in Mumbai at 14:40. The share has risen from 7 per cent this year compared to 17 per cent increase compared Sensitive Index.

The government yesterday gave the Coal India to sign agreements to submit projects to be finalized in March 2015 and import of local fuel production bottlenecks. "Forcing Coal India for coal supply contracts with a larger amount of the government is moving its corporate responsibility without adequate compensation mechanism."
Penal fine

Coal India pays the fine, if supplies remain obligations of the Prime Minister's office said yesterday in a statement. Mining company has not signed the fuel contracts from April 2009, after being told she could supply only 50 percent of power requirements.
