Highlands is a place in Louisville, Kentucky lets her hair down! An eclectic collection of neighborhoods full of local shops, restaurants and bars, Highlands sits atop a ridge between the central and south forks, and the Beargrass Creek with a three-mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue. The area is also known as "Restaurant Row" because of the many exciting nightclubs and eateries. Nearly 33,000 people live in the Highlands and can range from working-class neighborhoods in some of the most expensive homes in the city Louisville. Many neighborhoods in Highlands boast the largest share of college graduates and the highest average incomes in the city.

Highlands consists of eight different parts of the city, and all are in great demand and charming in its own way.

Original Highlands is an historic neighborhood that has a population of about 1,600 inhabitants. Architecture is a mix of large timber-framed and brick Victorian homes and shotgun houses of the working class, many times to sit with each other. National products are located in the neighborhood of the factory, which produces a more disco balls than any other factory in the world, adding an eclectic charm of the Original Highlands.

Phoenix Hill population of about 5,000 people and has a segment of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Campus. In this neighborhood is known for its many popular bars and nightclubs, including the Phoenix Hill Tavern.

Irish Hill acquired its name because it sits atop a ridge above the Ohio River flood plain and the Irish Catholics had settled in the nineteenth century. Irish Hill is a wonderful playground for Breslin Park, which opened in 2009 and a new sprayground is scheduled to begin in 2011. This community has over 1,500 inhabitants.

Known for its large homes and architecture, Cherokee Triangle is a very popular and well-established neighborhood of Highlands. After the park opened in 1891 quickly became popular in the area of the dwelling place of the affluent. This area has been the largest city in the appreciation of the values of the past decade. Annual Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is over 200 artists' booths and is scheduled for two days in April every year. Over 4,500 residents live in the Cherokee Triangle.

The bridge is a large arc, which allows pedestrians to walk from one part of the park to another without crossing the busy road that bisects the Tyler Park. Some 3,000 residents of Tyler Park to call home, and over 50% of them hold a college degree.

Deer Park is a largely residential area, which is one of the most densely populated areas in Louisville. There are two pedestrian courts in the community with long rows of homes is only accessible through the alleys and walkways in front yards. These types of streets are relatively unique to Louisville with 11 more found in Old Louisville, and very few outside the existing city. Shotgun Rules and the Victorians, is usually lower than that in homes east of Bardstown Road, make up the majority of housing styles in Deer Park. Modest Craftsman style homes, ranches and large pre-World War II homes can also be found in various parts of the vicinity. Nearly 4,500 people live in Deer Park.

Bonnycastle development will greatly affect the Cherokee Park neighborhood. Mix of Victorian homes and historical revival styles are found, as well as Craftsman bungalows spread out the mix. Bonnycastle Commodore Apartment Building is the tallest building, which was developed in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Edgewood Place is a pedestrian only street, is accessible by car. Nearly 2,500 people call home Bonnycastle.
