Bullying or allegations of bullying at work is always stressful for those involved. For employers who have to deal with complaints and instances of intimidation, the dynamics can be destructive and costly in a multitude of ways. Not least the potential cost of employee complaints, as well as the loss of confidence if these allegations or cases are not treated quickly.

I do not think I've never been in a work situation where he has not been at least some discussion of whether the behavior can be interpreted as bullying. I've been in others where bullying took place and people have experienced bullying and it is not pleasant.

In the Survey employees ICPD 2010, 16% of respondents said they believed that bullying by their superiors had increased due to the economic crisis and frankly I'm not surprised. In the latest survey People Civil Service in 2011, 9% of employees said they had been bullied, although that number, only 28% said bullying was their superior. It seems that the allegation of bullying is not a phenomenon exclusively manager.

In my own experience, I knew "intimidation" line managers, customers and colleagues. I witnessed numerous allegations of intimidation, some justified and some not. Personally, I've never been accused of bullying, it is easy to perceive bullying assertive behavior when employees are not used to, and I bet some of my actions may well have been construed as some people with and in certain circumstances.

Bullying has a special dynamic and it is often not clear, which is why so much behavior is not adequately addressed in the workplace. Some of the dynamics of bullying, I witnessed the following:

Bullying or intimidation is

    Abuse and neglect of power

Bullying behavior is an assertion of power over someone else. Most of the time such behavior says, "I am more important than you and I know better" It's a trap superiority, and it is carried by fear of a lack of inner power.

Being bullied is a surrender of power. Nobody can intimidate anyone without their permission. If you believe in yourself and know your own value, nothing anyone can say will shake your foundation. When someone accepts bullying behavior, although it can be difficult to understand the situation, they give up their power.

    Rarely a conscious intention and can sometimes be a surprise for both people involved.

Countless times I have seen people who have done the bullying become extremely upset and dismayed when they realize the effect they have. When you encounter such a reaction you know the behavior stops.

Sometimes, I attended a denial and amazement that their behavior could be construed as bullying. These people have work to do, but the awareness of their impact on others is often the starting point for behavior change forever.

People who are at the other end of bullying are often surprised to see how vulnerable they are and how the behavior is disturbing to them personally. They are often fierce in their condemnation of the "tyrant" and appalled by how awful human being can do to another.

    A dynamic born of fear of not being good enough on both sides

Someone show bullying behavior using the dynamic force on someone else. Anyone who uses force on another is afraid of their ability to negotiate, influence or gain cooperation, understanding, approval or assistance of another.

Someone who feels intimidated by someone else feels powerless to deal with the behavior in order to achieve a positive result, and / or an unconscious fear they are not good enough and that the attacker might have a point.

    A denial of the opportunity to take care of each other

Take care of each other is our natural state. Whenever we have no concern for others, we are in the dissociation or denial of who we really are at our core. The dynamics of bullying and intimidation is a dynamic blatant in front of our natural inner desire to take care of each other.

Often, a dynamic bullying occurs because "the perpetrator and victim" does not believe in the possibility of another care enough about them to hear the other.

    Dynamics blame

Surfaces when bullying behavior is due to an inability to have the courage to take personal responsibility on both sides. The author is either consciously or unconsciously try to change or intimidate the "victim" because they are "bad." The person at the other end inevitably feels no choice but to see the behavior as an attack against them rather than see the fear or lack of awareness in the person displaying the behavior.

While I have seen this behavior, I must say that whenever the real or perceived behavior bullying occurs, it is always wrong, and always look ugly because there is always an impact. Very often, assertive behavior can be considered bullying and often people can be subjected to authoritarian behaviors that can be designed to get them to submit to another. Even in these situations, to enter the "who is right and who is wrong" debate is futile.
