Mystery from The Pickup Artist got his sway to fortune deriving out of Neil Strauss' book: The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. Mystery from The Pickup Artist was one of the major characters in that bestseller. Because of that volume, he got granted a show on VH1 named The Pick-up Artist. Mystery wasn't consistently into picking up and dating girls. Mystery, whose real name is Erik von Markovik, actually really desired to be a magician.

Mystery tried altered theories in bars and nightclubs until he distinctively ciphered out a pattern that worked most of the time.

Some of these theories, Mystery from The Pickup Artist was the pioneer in establishing:
• Peacocking - dressing in a way to draw the attention of girls and be confident and congruent with that style of dressing. • Approach Anxiety - having difficulty and anxiety when approaching a woman. Being too fearful to go up to a damsel and begin talking to her.
• 3 second rule - when surveying a lady you want to get to know, you must go up to her in a period 3 seconds or things will get discomfited with approach anxiety (AA)
• Neg - a double-edged compliment which appears that you are good-natured and are not placing the gal on a pedestal
• Set - a batch of two or more chicks in a bar or event that you would like to approach

Mystery from The Pickup Artist befriended the journalist Neil Strauss who later composed The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. They both lived in a Los Angeles estate house along with other pickup artists and labeled it Project Hollywood. The bestseller is mainly based on their involvement in that dwelling along with how Neil Strauss got started.
